Joy of Christmas Card

by Bonnie Hershfeldt, November 01, 2023

Happy Wednesday!  Oh my!  Winter made a sneak visit to Frederick over the weekend with a little bit of snow.  The real surprise was waking up to 6 degree weather on Monday morning!  Egads - I'm so glad I asked hubby to bring up the electric blanket on Sunday so we could be snug as a bug in our warm bed Sunday night.  Hubby was so excited he invited our son Sean and his girlfriend Brittany to dinner (unbeknownst to me) on Monday evening so they could catch a glimpse of the Halloween display before he prepares to take it down next weekend.  I'm glad he did as we didn't check all of the battery operated decorations so I was out in force on Tuesday afternoon making sure everything was chanting and blinking - lol!  Trick or Treaters were still in force last night.  I remember when my boys were young - it didn't matter how cold or wet they were going to get, they wouldn't stay in the warm house on that night!

Last week we had some fun playing with the Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks and I wanted to really create a card with the red/black checked plaid one we made.  I was prepping for my 1st Stamp A Stack Christmas card class for this weekend with the Joy of Christmas Suite Collection and it was the perfect suite to finish a card using this left over from last week.  I love when left overs are full of inspiration!  This suite is truly the perfect suite for those that love traditional Christmas crafting products!

Today's Facebook Live show cased the Christmas Classics and Joy of Noel Bundles from the suite for this festive Christmas Card.

This suite is truly the perfect suite for those that love traditional Christmas crafting products!  The suite is a big one!  It includes two bundles:  the Christmas Classics Bundle, the Joy of Noel BundleLoose Holly Gems & Sequins, Black & Very Vanilla 3/8" Large Check Ribbon, Joyful 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper and the Joy of Christmas 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper.

The Christmas Classics Bundle includes the Christmas Classics Photopolymer Stamp Set and the Christmas Classics Dies.  The Christmas Classics Photopolymer Stamp Set has 5 beautiful scripty sentiments, and 5 words to create your own combination of sentiments, and 5 images (I used the holly leaves and the Christmas sentiment).  The Christmas Classics Dies has 13 dies.  My favorites are the lovely frame dies (I used the holly leaf coordinating die and the decorative branch die).

The Joy of Noel Bundle includes the Joy of Noel Photopolymer Stamp Set and the Joy of Noel Dies.  The Joy of Noel Photopolymer Stamp Set has 10 lovely festive images (I used the large, medium and small berry sprays) and 3 sentiments including a "To: From:" sentiment that is so handy for tag crafting.  You can watercolor your berry sprays with ink, watercolor pencils or use your Stampin' Blends.  If you do watercolor, I would suggest using Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and Jet Black Stazon Ink - you will be much happier with your results!  I chose to stamp my sprays with Tuxedo Memento Black ink and only color the berries with a Dark Real Red Stampin' Blend to coordinate with the red/black checked background.  I especially love the decorative Noel sentiment!  The Joy of Noel Dies includes 10 dies including coordinating dies for each of the sprays (I used the 3 sizes of holly sprays and pine needle sprays), holly leaves and the Noel Sentiment - the best part!  Tip:  Use the NOEL die to cut out a template and then line up on a square card stock to stamp the sentiment in the same position - it's so unique and festive!

If you would like a little bit of glitz and glimmer, brush Wink of Stella on all of the white leaves.  Just be careful to avoid the berries as they will bleed!  My brush was running out of sparkle and a bit dry.  Be careful when you use your new brushes as sometimes it will give you a big spurt of glittery juice!  Do this over a Silicone Mat as it is much easier to clean it up than ruin your beautiful creation!  (Speaking from the voice of experience - lol!)
