Little Monkey Jungle Card

by Bonnie Hershfeldt, July 21, 2023

Where is the Summer going?  I can't believe that July is almost over.  It's crazy to think that kids will be going back to school 4 weeks!  My garden is finally taking off with the warm weather and more rain to offset those hot days.  Do you have a garden in the summer?  What do you grow?

I've been making lots of cards this week for a blog hop, next month's tutorial, a card class this weekend and Wednesday's Facebook Live showcased the adorable Little Monkey Bundle.  I was looking for something easy and quick to make as I was running out of steam.  I was itching to case the amazing card that is on page 53 of the 2023 - 2024 Annual Catalog.  The jungle scene was so much fun to create!  This turned out to be much more work that I really wanted to tackle, but the results were well worth it!

The Little Monkey bundle includes the Little Monkey Photopolymer Stamp Set and the Little Monkey Builder Punch.  The stamp set has 3 funny little monkeys to create fun projects!  The leaves, bananas and vines help you to create monkeys "Swinging by to say hi".

The builder punch cuts the monkey in the lower right corner of the photo above of the stamp set.  It also builds adorable monkeys from cardstock like Pecan Pie, Early Espresso or Copper Clay.  But - you can create your monkey in any color that you want!  That's what is perfect about Stampin' Up! Builder punches.  This builder punch cuts out the body, the face, 2 ears and a banana.  The stamp set has a stamp to put a face on your monkey.

The card that I demoed is bright and cheerful thanks to the Brights 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper in Daffodil Delight.  The star shaped flower embossing folder (one of the three Basics 3D Embossing Folders from the Online Exclusives) added the perfect jungle texture for the scene!  I used Stampin' Blend Markers in the following colors to color the scene:  Pebbled Path, Lemon Lime Twist, Pecan Pie, Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Petal Pink, Bubble Bath, Lemon Lolly, Daffodil Delight.

I made a leaf of Old Olive for my sentiment tag versus the cloud label in the catalog.  The Tropical Leaf bundle from the Online Exclusives made a very easy sentiment tag and fit the jungle scene perfectly!

This card is definitely for the avid stamper, however, for the beginner and casual stamper it's a great card to learn how to layer stamping, mask and color with Stampin' Up Blend markers.  I'm hopeful that you are able to take a new technique away from the replay of the Facebook Live.

I hope you enjoyed these sweet monkey's swinging through the jungle offering you a banana!

Enjoy your weekend and ...

KEEP ON CRAFTING!
