Sea Turtle Card

by Bonnie Hershfeldt, April 12, 2023

Happy Wednesday crafting friends!  I think Spring and Summer are a bit confused this week.  It's in the 80's here in Colorado - record breaking warm temperatures.  The buds on my neighbors lilacs are getting thicker.  I just hope we don't get one of those freaky May Colorado blizzards and freeze the poor things!

I logged into my email late last night and I had a surprise from Stampin' Up!  Yesterday was my 5th Anniversary with Stampin' Up!  I can't believe that 5 years has gone so quickly!  What is that they say - time flies when you are having fun!  And yes, I've been having fun!

Today's Facebook Live showcased a stamp set that I couldn't wait to play with, especially for my Hawaii scrapbook pages - Sea Turtle Photopolymer Stamp Set.  If you love sea turtles or the ocean, this is the set you have to get.  And yes, it's carrying over into the new 2022 - 2024 Annual Catalog!

My upline, Joey Hartman, sponsors a stamper of the month by gifting a stamp set of our choice and then we post cards weekly during the month.  I am the April stamper of the month and I knew that this was the stamp set that I wanted to create with.  This is my post for week 2 for the month of April.  I'll show you the card I made for week 1 later in today's post.

I brought out my Clear Embossing Powder to add some additional texture to the ocean waves, and Gold Embossing Powder to make my turtle's shell.  This guy is a big one - he measures 3" x 3 1/2"!  He would be a great addition to your scrapbooking pages for those snorkeling trips with the turtles.  My husband was fortunate to spot and swim with a turtle in Maui.  I was watching from the beach and I'll be darned you could pick out the turtles skimming the surf!

I chose a soft palette of colors today:  Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Old Olive and Pool Party.  I love how the Clear embossing powder melts and provides the most awesome bubbling ocean!

This stamp set is a reversible stamp set.  What are reversible stamp sets?  Reversible stamp set images are just that - reversible.  For example, the large turtle has a solid side to the stamp and a textured side to the stamp.  Stamp with the solid first and then stamp with the texture.  For my big turtle, I stamped the solid side with Old Olive and then stamped the textured side with Versamark, sprinkled with Gold Embossing Powder, and melted with my Heat Tool.  Think of all the fascinating combinations you could dream up!

Click Here to catch the replay of my Facebook Live.  Another issue with desktop camera - heavy sigh!  I told my hubby I may need to stop wireless desktop especially when streaming at night when he is home.  Will try this off the bat next week.  Please fast forward from 11:22 to 20:00 on the streaming.  To my crafting friends that joined the live - thank you so much for hanging in there!!!

Here is the card that I created for week 1!  Isn't the baby turtle the cutest ever?  I used a fun print from the By the Bay 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper.  This paper is only available through 5/1 or while supplies last - order today so you don't miss out on this gorgeous ocean themed paper!  I used Pool Party and my Blending Brushes to add some color to the DSP.

I can't wait to create next week's card!  Following me on Pinterest?  Click on the Pinterest icon in the upper right hand corner of my website to follow me there!  You can find my future Sea Turtle cards there!

Hope you enjoyed today's Sea Turtle Card!  Enjoy the rest of your week and...

KEEP ON CRAFTING!!
