Lucky Clover Gnome Card

by Bonnie Hershfeldt, March 08, 2023

Happy Wednesday!  Thank you for the kind get well wishes!  I am healing well from my thumb surgery last Wednesday.  Yesterday, I accidently got my dressing a bit damp and had to go to the doctor's office today to ensure I hadn't created an environment ripe with infection.  Yippee - they took the dressing off a day early as everything looked just as it should!  I am now able to type more easily and hopefully can get a bit more crafting done.  It's a bit tender but getting stronger!  The test results came back from biopsy of the, as described post surgery, a lump of popcorn yesterday as well.  Results are good!  It was yucky tumor - but not cancerous thank goodness!  Onto next week's suture removal and then a bit of PT to strengthen the movement in my thumb!

Next week is a big week!  My bday is on Wednesday, and then St. Patrick's Day is on Friday!.  Today's Facebook Live card is in honor of St. Patty's Day!  When I was younger (lol), lot's of celebrating was had to be done throughout these days - even a party bus with green beer - that was a night my hubby (then new boyfriend) had to take care of me.   Now it's a lot more laid back - a quiet dinner for my bday - and wearing of the green on St. Patrick's Day!  There is something about a cute leprechaun and his gold - right?

This cute little gnome card showcases 5 Stampin' Up! products:  Gnome Dies (gnome), Blossoming Happiness Dies (buckles), Conversation Bubbles Dies (sentiment label), Lucky Clover Cling Stamp Set (sentiments and clover on the inside of the card), and Hand-Drawn Dots Cling Set for the the background.

As I struggled making this card yesterday with my big dressing, I wasn't very focused when making my background with my Stamparatus.  I got all excited to make multiple cards and failed to restamp with Versamark Ink and a Sponge Dauber in order to make my random "gold coins" falling from the sky in the exact same spot as the green dots.  So I improvised and used the eraser on the end of a pencil!  This made the perfect sized gold coins and I could stamp individual coins intermittently instead of a cluster of coins!  Brilliant - eh?  I'm sure you have done this before - it certainly was new to me!  LOL!

I wanted to have my leprechaun hold a clover in his hand, but I just wasn't able to do much fussy cutting with the big dressing on my thumb.  Had to be my right hand thumb - darn it!  If you try this card, you may want to add a small clover under his hand from the Lucky Clover Cling Stamp Set.

This stamp set was sold as a bundle with the Lucky Clover Punch.  Unfortunately, the punch sold out quickly and will no longer be available.  Suspect that this stamp set will retire on 5/1!  It's a great St. Patrick's Day set - and the clovers are fairly easy to fussy cut!  So you may want to order yours while supplies last.

I was really struggling on how to add some buckles to dress up my leprechaun's hat based upon my inspiration photo I found on Google.  I had to use an electronic die machine to get through the die cutting so I had a look at my dies and I found the perfect die!  It required a little cutting, but definitely something that I could manage.  The Blossoming Happiness dies has a border die with small rectangles.

I cut a strip from Gold Foil Sheets and VOILA - with a little snip here and a little snip there - buckles!  Who would have thought!  When you are struggling on finding exactly what you are looking for, be sure to look at the possibilities you can create from something that was purposed for something entirely different!

I just love this sentiment from the Lucky Clover Cling Stamp Set that I used on the inside of my card.  It says it all of how special your friends are.  And add a clover at the bottom of the card - that's one clover easily found!  LOL!

Stampin' Up! has some great shades of green for your special St. Patrick's Day cards.  I chose Shaded Spruce for my gnome card.

Also, on Wednesday, 3/29, Stampin' Up! will announce the retiring products from both the 2022 - 2023 Annual and 2023 January - April Catalogs.  The retiring products will be available to order from my online store through 5/1.  I'll be gathering my products for an upcoming retired product sale - be sure to check my retiring product lists the afternoon of Friday, 5/19.  I'll be hosting a new catalog launch party at my home on Saturday, 5/20 where I will have all of my retired product available to purchase.  I do take requests via email for now - still on my list to figure out what to use for an online store...

Speaking of my retired products list, I refreshed it this week to include the retired Sale-A-Bration products from the 2023 Sale-A-Bration's brochure.  Click Here to check out the products and Click Here to check out the bundles I have available at a deep discount!  I will be happy to ship to you if you aren't local to Frederick, Colorado.  Send me an email at bonnie_hershfeldt@comcast.net with your shipping address and the products you would like to purchase.  If I still have in my inventory, I'll send you a Paypal invoice with shipping costs included.  I do try to keep the list up to date as purchases have been made.

I hope you enjoyed the leprechaun gnome card today!  I think spring is finally on the horizon!  I heard birds chirping this afternoon.  Weather forecast shows that we are finally out of the single digit temps at night.  Looks like this Saturday may get up to 59 degrees here in Frederick, Colorado!

Enjoy the remainder of your week and...

KEEP ON CRAFTING!

  1. Your card is really cute, but I can't get onto Gnomes. Glad to hear your finger is in the healing process. For some reason now I have a right trigger finger. Hurts like he'll when it locks up. A burning sensation. Seeing a hand specialist in two weeks. This getting older is for the birds.
