By the Bay Thank You Card

by Bonnie Hershfeldt, January 11, 2023

Happy Wednesday!  I've been having a great time creating cards/projects for my 2023 January - April Mini Catalog/Sale-A-Bration brochure launch party this coming Saturday, 1/14/23 from 10am - 2pm.  I still have a ways to go, but I've definitely making progress!

In today's Facebook Live, I showcased the beach themed By the Bay Suite Collection from the new Mini Catalog.  When I saw the samples in the catalog on page 22 and an Onstage 2022 demonstration by Evelyn Rosborough, I knew that I would enjoy creating with this beautiful, soothing suite.

The family of sandpipers and shells weren't the only images that caught my eye in the Seaside Bay Cling Stamp set, but the amazing oyster shell with a big pearl inside sealed it for me.  The Seaside Bay Dies not only coordinates with the images in the stamp set, but they also coordinate with the fabulous By the Bay 6" x 6" Specialty Designer Series Paper.  This DSP is sooo pretty!   48 sheets of lovely beachy images.  Each of 12 different papers have one side - some embossed in gold foil and some in pearl foil.  When I saw this paper at OnStage, I put on the top of my wish list!  And don't forget the embellishments!  The Flat Adhesive-Backed Pearls look so real - like pearls right out of the oyster!  And the lovely Balmy Blue & White 1/2" Variegated Ribbon is so soft and airy.  Evelyn Rosborough colored the white part of the ribbon with a Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends and turned out so beautiful!  I tried it out and I was amazed!

The Stampin' Up! Coordinating colors for this DSP are:

I cased this card from the new catalog (see page 22).  I changed it slightly by stamping my birds with Night of Navy Classic Stampin' Pad and adding a little color using Flirty Flamingo and Balmy Blue Watercolor Pencils.  I placed my little birds a little differently.  A tip for stamping the little birds:  I die cut a "mask" of the little birds from the coordinating dies.  I then placed the mask in my Stamparatus and placed the stamp into the mask.  I then picked up the stamp with my Stamparatus plate.  I stamped the image with Night of Navy, and then die cut the images.  The die fit perfectly with the image - not so on my first try - lol!  I used my Paper Trimmer for scoring the 1/4" lines on the Petal Pink cardstock.  I use this tool for all my cutting and scoring.  I don't own a Simply Scored Scoring Tool made by Stampin' Up!  I have some other brands of scoring tools that I purchased years ago before I became a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.  It may be time to replace those older versions as this would have been much easier to demonstrate with that tool!

For my scrapbooking friends, this suite would be awesome for those beachy scrapbook pages.  Here is a page I created this morning!
