Welcome to the December 2022 Crafty Challenge Blog Hop!  I'm excited to join a talented group of demonstrators today!  See what I have to share with you today and then check out all the other blogs in the hop for additional inspiration from today's Crafty Challenge!  To follow the hop and see the other amazingly creative project ideas, simply scroll down and click on the names of the other hop participants.

This month's challenge was based upon an interesting color challenge.  What a fun beachy color theme?  Neutrals with a blast of orangey yellow!  At first I thought of a sunset on a beach.

However, when I took another look at the neutral colors, I was immediately drawn to designing with a vintage theme.  I'm always on the look out for vintage products in my Stampin' Up! catalogs - and the new 2022 January - April Mini Catalog hasn't disappointed!  I fell in love with the Queen Bee Bundle when I first strolled through this beautiful new catalog during OnStage 2022.  For those lucky ones that have received their new catalogs, please see page 26!  The images and the fonts are absolutely perfect vintage for me!

This lovely stamp set is inspired by Million Sales Achiever Laura Milligan.  If you purchase the Queen Bee Bundle, you can get the Queen Bee Cling Stamp Set and the Queen Bee Dies for a 10% discount!  I was a little unfocused this morning while trying to get Christmas Dinner in the oven when I put together my card and totally forgot to bring out my dies.  The dies include 15 wonderful dies coordinating with the stamp set including additional floral sprays, a fun label for sentiments and more bees!  The detail on the large queen bee stamp is amazing!  I especially enjoyed using the vintage type set stamp to make a background on the Gray Granite cardstock.

Instructions to recreate my card:

  • Cut Very Vanilla Thick at 4 1/4" x 11" (10.5cm x 29.7cm).  Score at 5 1/2" (14.9cm)
  • Cut Gray Granite at 5 1/4" x 4" (14.4cm x 10.0cm).  Distress all edges with Paper Snip Scissors.  Using a sponge dauber, distress the edges with Gray Granite ink.  Stamp the type set image with Gray Granite around all edges.
  • Cut Crumb Cake rose floral dsp from Abigail Rose DSP at 5" x 3 3/4" (13.9cm x 9.5cm).  Tear left edge of paper.  Using a sponge dauber, distress the edges with Crumb Cake ink.  Adhere to the Gray Granite piece.  Tie Sahara Sand Twill ribbon around the piece.  Adhere to card front with dimensionals.
  • Stamp the queen bee and the "Happy" and "Birthday" sentiments using Soft Suede on scraps of Very Vanilla.  Cut tightly around the words.  Fussy cut around the bee.  Using a sponge dauber, distress the edges of the bee and the words with Soft Suede ink.  Color the flowers on the queen bee with a Mango Melody Stampin' Write Marker.  Brush the bee's wings with Wink of Stella.  Adhere to the card front with dimensionals.
  • Stamp the crown with Mango Melody on a scrap of Very Vanilla.  Using a sponge dauber, distress the edges with Soft Suede ink.  Adhere to the card front with dimensionals.
  • Embellish the card front with Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels.
Thank you so much for hopping by!  Please leave a comment as I would love to hear how you use color combinations to create inspiration!
