For the Record

by Bonnie Hershfeldt, May 17, 2022

Where did April and half of May go?  Egads!  I can't believe that my last post was on April 11.  Alot has taken place since then - I went on my first scrapbooking retreat the end of April.  What a fun weekend of crafting with friends, meeting new crafting friends and just getting some R and R!   I didn't get any scrapbook pages completed, but rather I spent most of the weekend preparing a number of samples from new products debuting in the new 2022-2023 Annual Catalog.  I inventoried my retired product and added the newly retired products/bundles from the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog.  I just had my 2022-2023 Annual Catalog Launch Party this last weekend.  We had fun catching up, looking through all the new goodies and crafting two make and take cards.  Of course, spring brings cleanup.  We are cleaning out of a storage unit and preparing for the proverbial garage sale.  I'm still cleaning out my office from 8 years of working at home.  It just never seems to end - does it?  How about you - what does Springtime chores have you been working on?  Now it's a chance to breath and get back into a routine - or maybe start and stick to a routine - lol!

Tonight, I was working on a project to share with my co committee members for my 45th high school reunion taking place late summer.  The theme is Blast from the Past - and old vinyl records is one of the decorations.  I had to try out my For the Record Stamp Cling Stamp set to make some faux vinyl records.  They turned out looking so close to a vinyl record using Black Embossing Powder on Basic Black cardstock.  What do you think?

The For the Record Cling Stamp set is in the 2022 January - June catalog.  I can't believe that another catalog will be retiring at the end of June!  And if June sneaks up on me like April/May did - I'm going to stay focused lol!

This is a fun stamp set for the young at heart!  It includes 5 sentiments, the vinyl record and tracks images.  I love the two bolder sentiments on Basic Black cardstock and White Embossing powder - stands out really well!  And I am partial to the You're My Favorite Song sentiment as it says it all!

I used a Smoky Slate 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock for my card base.  I stamped musical notes from the new Sweet Songbirds Photopolymer Stamp Set in Smoky Slate Classic Stampin' Pad (stamped off once) all over the edges of the card front.  I stamped a few in the middle so they peek out of the vinyl record and sentiment.
I stamped the vinyl record onto Basic Black 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock using Versamark Pad and then used heat embossed using Black Embossing Powder.  I cut the finished disc with the largest plain Layering Circle die.  I punched a piece of Real Red 8 1/2" x 11 cardstock with a 1" circle punch (retired), and a piece of Silver Foil 12" x 12" Specialty Pack sheet with a 3/4" circle punch (retired) and adhered them to the center of the disc with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  I used my Crop-A-Dile Big Bite Punch (I found on Amazon) to punch a small hole in the middle of the circles.  I adhered to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.  I stamped the You're my Favorite Song sentiment with Versamark Pad and then heat embossed with White Embossing Powder.  I used the smaller label die from the Harvest Dies to cut out the sentiment.  I adhered this centered under the vinyl record with Stampin' Dimensionals.  I added Classic Matte Dots:  2 small Basic Gray dots, 2 small Basic Black dots and one large White dot colored with Dark Real Red Stampin' Blends.  I used a Basic White 8 1/2" x 11" Cardstock insert.  I stamped the "Happy Birthday" sentiment from the For the Record Stamp set with a Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad.  I adhered this to the inside of the card with Stampin' Seal.

Here is a second card using the For the Record Sentiment.  I used the larger long and narrow die from the Seasonal Labels Dies to cut out the sentiment.  I chose the "You're Awesome" sentiment from the stamp set for the inside sentiment.

I'm going to play more with this stamp set to make some colorful birthday cards in the next few weeks using the tracks image with the record but using colored inks!
