Delivering Cheer

by Bonnie Hershfeldt, November 29, 2021

I hope you had a very Happy Thanksgiving.  I'm so thankful for having wonderful crafting friends to share our love for papercrafting!  I'm extremely thankful that I was able to spend this Thanksgiving with all of my family - minus my youngest son.  But he will be here for Christmas - yet another thing to be thankful for!

We had a great time making snowmen and snowflakes last weekend.  It's just always a great day when I can have crafting friends over to create and learn from each other.  I learned how to use dental floss to remove dimensionals that are adhered to a card front.  Brilliant!

This weekend, I worked on designing gift packaging projects for my last class of this year.  I found a few fun projects to make a folding gift bag, a couple of gift card holders, candy bar stocking stuffer, and a gift box.  I had fun playing with stamp sets that I had yet to use - Delivering Cheer, Joyful Life and Be Jolly.  I fell in love with the Christmas Tree Delivery girl with her overcoat and boots.  There are the cutest small set of leg warmers that I dressed my girl in!  The best thing ever is that you can dress your delivery girl in any color that you desire!  What color would you color her coat?  How about her mittens and leg warmers?  It's like playing with paper dolls again!

I had an abundance of Kraft 6" x 6" Paper from the Gingerbread & Peppermint Suite left to use up.  For my 2021 July - December Mini Catalog launch party in August, I cased a card from page 16 that also had a sweet small envelope in the same matching paper above.   I couldn't have an envelope without a matching card hanging around!  Oh my - so I whipped up another small card and popped on my Delivery Girl on the card front!   I added a small pocket on the left side of the inside of the card to place a gift card.

Instructions to make this small card:
  • Cut Kraft 6" x 6" paper at 4 3/4" x 6".  Score at 3" with the 6" at the top of the Paper Trimmer.  When folded card will measure 4 3/4" x 3"
  • Cut Red Herringbone print from Painted Christmas 12" x 12" DSP at 2 3/4" x 4 1/2".  Adhere to the card front with Stampin' Seal or Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  • Cut Basic White at 2 3/4" x 4 1/2".  Stamp the "Sending Love & Christmas Cheer" sentiment from the Delivering Cheer Photopolymer Stamps with Cherry Cobbler Classic Stampin' Pad.
  • Cut Kraft 6" x 6" paper at 2 7/8" x 2 3/4.  Using a circle punch (retired) or Layering Circle Dies, cut a small "moon" in the center of the 2 7/8" top.  Adhere the sides and bottom only to the inside left of the card with Tear n' Tape making sure to get as close to the edge as possible to leave space inside the pocket for the gift card.
  • Stamp the tree and the coat with boots from the Delivering Cheer Photopolymer stamps with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto scraps of Basic White cardstock.  Stamp the leggings over the legs on the stamped image with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Fussy cut each unit.
  • Color the tree with Evening Evergreen Stampin' Blends Combo using both dark and light to blend.
  • Color the sleeves and the coat with Just Jade Stampin' Blends Combo using both dark and light to blend.
  • Color the mittens, striped cuff and leggings (alternating stripes) with Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends.
  • Color the trunk of the tree with Dark Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends.
  • Color the remaining stripes in the mitten cuff and leg warmers with Dark Daffodil Stampin' Blends.
  • Add Wink of Stella to the black boots and the tree.
  • Adhere the tree unit and the coat unit with Stampin' Seal or small bead of Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  • Adhere to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Instructions to make this small envelope:
  • Cut Red Herringbone print from Painted Christmas 12" x 12" DSP at 6 1/4" x 6 3/4".  Score at 1 3/4" and 3" with the 6 1/4" along the top.  Score at 3/4" and 1 1/4" with the 6 3/4" along the top.
  • Trim off the squares where the 3/4" and 1 1/4" score lines meet with the 1 3/4" and 3" score lines.  Angle in the edges on the 3/4" line.  Round the corner ends or the 1 1/4" side with the Detailed Trio Punch.
  • Punch a slit from the middle of the top flap with the Label me Fancy Punch about 1/4" down from the top edge.
  • Place Tear n' Tape vertically along the edge of the 1 3/4" flap.  Remove the top of the tape and fold over the 2" flap.
  • Place Tear n' Tape on the inside of the bottom flap.  Remove the top of the tape and fold up.
  • Insert signed card with gift card inside the enveloper.
  • Cut 22" of Gold 1/4" Shimmer Ribbon.   Insert from the back side of the slit and wrap around the card and tie in a bow.
I would love to see the combinations that you create!

I used the beautiful Ever Eden 12" x 12" Specialty DSP to make an adorable gift card holder using the Joyful Life Cling Stamps for this weekend's Gift Packaging class.  I fell for this adorable pig holding his take out cup of his favorite beverage!  This card layout came from Joey Hartman, my upline in our last month's swap.  She used different papers within the Ever Eden Speciality DSP and the bell dies from the Gingerbread dies in place of my sweet pig friend.  The DSP I incorporated for this gift card holder is stunning with the gold foiled print and the gradient solid print.  The Garden Gems embellishments are absolutely GORGEOUS!!!  And the greens are just so calming.  Lastly, the card front sentiment is the beautiful font from the Heatfelt Wishes Stamps.
Please note:  The Garden Gems, the Ever Eden Specialty DSP, and the Ever Eden Cotton Paper from this beautiful suite are only available through January 3, 2022.  The Bundle will carry over into the new 2022 January - June Mini Catalog debuting on 1/3/22.  Please do not miss out on this stunning collection!
