What a gorgeous Autumn weekend! The trees continue to turn beautiful golden yellow here in Frederick. I'm heading Northeast next weekend to visit my youngest son, David, who lives in NYC. We are taking a drive on Friday a little bit north of the city to say in Sleepy Hollow for the night to enjoy a play and a pumpkin festival. We are going to see the Legend of Sleepy Hollow which will take place at Washington Irving's home! And I'm hoping for some more beautiful fall colors! How have you been enjoying the beautiful Autumn weekends?
I've been diligently working on holiday projects for an upcoming craft fair here in Frederick on 11/13. I'm sure you would like a little bit more of fall though for this weekend. So I'll share with you the card I made for a recent card swap. As Autumn is my favorite season, I pulled out the Beauty of Earth Designer Series Paper and Beauty of Friendship Bundle.
The Coordinating colors for this lovely suite is a perfect Autumn palette of colors: Merry Merlot, Cinnamon Cider, Bumblebee, Old Olive, Mossy Meadow and Misty Moonlight. I also like Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry - such beautiful colors - and I just don't use them enough!
I was searching for ideas for my card swap using the Beauty of Friendship DSP and I found a lovely card posted on Pinterest from Michelle of Owl Stars Stampers. She made a slimline card using the Beauty of the Earth DSP. I loved how she stamped and die cut the tree and popped this up on top of a stamped tree trunk with Stampin' Dimensionals from the Beauty of Friendship stamps. I was so impressed on how it gave the tree so much dimension. I mixed it up a bit and made a portrait card instead of a slimline card and used the fabulous Well Defined Stamps sentiment on Gratitude. I used Merry Merlot as Michelle had in her card for the borders behind the DSP, the stamped tree and the sentiment
I then made an alternate card in landscape mode in golds. We don't have many reds and oranges of the season here, so I wanted something reminiscent of the trees in my neighborhood. I used Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry for my card base. I used Crushed Curry Classic Stampin' Pad and it provided an amazing golden tree! I added orange tinged sequins from the Artistry Blooms Adhesive-backed sequins pack. Which is your favorite? I would love to hear your comments.
