Where does 30 years go? I'm going to be the mother of a 30 year old - what? How did that sweet bundle of joy that I dreamed of for so long turn into an adult reaching 30? My oldest son, Sean, has become a wonderful, independent man. We are so very proud of him!
I struggle making masculine cards. I knew that a 30 year old man wouldn't be enthused by flowers and frills, so had to go searching for inspiration. My son is a mechanical engineer and his passion is anything that flies! Last weekend, we spent a very early Saturday morning at the Erie Hot Air Balloon Festival. When I found So Confidently on page 70 of the 2021 January - June Mini Catalog - I couldn't wait to get to my crafting studio to case the lovely hot air balloon card!
This card used multiple Stampin' Up! Products - Soar Confidently Stamp Set for the hot air balloon, Sailing Home Stamp set for the compass and the birds, and the Mountain Majestic Die Set for the clouds. I love using my blending brushes, so when I find a card that I can play with them - it's a great crafting moment! I used my blending brushes with Misty Moonlight Classic Stampin' Pad to create the blue sky. Vintage is another of my favorites, so another great crafting moment to bring out daubers and distress the panels with Sahara Sand Stampin' Pad. Crumb Cake cardstock is that perfect kraft paper color and pairs so well with Misty Moonlight cardstock for the card base. This looks difficult, but is rather simple. I made the panel and then cut into 4 strips - 1 3/4", 1 1/4", 3/4", 1/4". Very Vanilla cardstock is cut at 3/4" and stamped with "Soar Confidently In Your Own Sky" (love that sentiment) with the Misty Moonlight Classic Stampin' Pad. All of the strips where then adhered to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals I stamped the inside of the card with Happy Birthday from the Pansy Patch Stamp Set and stamped another hot air balloon offset in the lower right corner. I don't play much with my Watercolor Pencils - so was thrilled when I found that my Balmy Blue and Daffodil Delight pencils worked for coloring the both hot air balloons. I tried using my Stampin' Blends but it wasn't the right vintage look I was going for! The clouds and the hot air balloon were distressed with Sahara Sand and a dauber as well. The cloud in the back of the balloon was adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and the remaining clouds and the balloon where adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals - a lot of dimension here! I'm not mailing this one so I could make as puffy as I wanted - lol! This perfect masculine stamp set is available through July 30 and then it will be retiring. If you are thinking that this would be your go to for a masculine card, don't wait too long!
