Snails in the Springtime

by Bonnie Hershfeldt, March 21, 2021

Happy Monday!  Spring is officially here by the calendar - more snow in Denver area today.  Weather prediction is 70 degrees next Monday - Spring is definitely here in the Rockies!

I brought out my Springtime Joy Stamp set again today.  This time though I partnered this adorable Spring stamp set with my Snailed It Bundle.  I cut the package off the large snail and placed an Easter basket full of colorful eggs in it's place - haha!!!  In the snail's own words - Welcome Spring!  I made 4 different cards using the 6" x 6" Subtle Designer Series Paper which is perfect for Springtime cards.

Which is your favorite?

To make your very own, instructions as follows:

Basic White Thick Cardstock
  • cut 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", score at 4 1/4" for card
Basic White Cardstock
  • Die cut 3rd largest plain oval die from Layering Oval Dies from scrap
  • Dry emboss using the Ornate Floral 3D embossing folder
  • Stamp the word bubble from the Snailed It Stamp set from scrap with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and then die cut with the word bubble from the Snail Die set
  • Stamp small butterfly from Springtime Joy Stamp Set with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad in the center of the word bubble.  Color the butterfly with Light Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends and Light Highland Heather Stampin' Blends.
  • Stamp scrap with Large snail with package from the Snailed It Stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad.  Cut off the package and fussy cut around the snail's right eye.  Color the snail body with either Dark/Light Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Blends or Dark/Light Petal Pink Stampin' Blends.  Color the snail shell with any of the following Stampin' Blends:  Dark/Light Balmy Blue, Dark/Light Roccoco Rose, Dark/Light Highland Heather, Dark/Light Mint Macaron.  Add Wink of Stella to the snail's shell.
  • Stamp the egg basket from the Springtime Joy Stamp Set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad.  Color with Dark Cinnamon Cider Stampin' Blends on the vertical weave of the basket.  Color/Blend with Light Cinnamon Cider Stampin' Blends on the remainder of the basket.  Color the eggs with Stampin' Blends:  Light Highland Heather, Dark Flirty Flamingo, Light Balmy Blue, Light Granny Apple Green.  Attach the snail's shell with a Glue Dot.
  • Cut a scrap 2 5/8" x 1 1/4".  From Springtime Joy Stamp set, stamp with "Welcome Spring!" sentiment with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad.  Stamp the tulip and the daisy on either side of the sentiment.  Using Stampin' Blends, color the tulip with Dark Flirty Flamingo, the daisy with Light Daffodil Delight, the daisy center with Light Highland Heather, and the leaves with Light Granny Apple Green.
Designer Series Paper
  • Colors I used: Pool Party, Petal Pink, Highland Heather, Pear Pizzazz
  • Ccut 5 1/4" x 4 1/4".  Adhere to card front.
  • Cut 2 7/8" x 1 1/2" of Daffodil Delight DSP.  Adhere the sentiment with Stampin' Seal.  Adhere lower left of the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Coordinating card stock
  • Colors I used:  Pool Party, Petal Pink, Highland Heather, Pear Pizzazz
  • Die cut with the largest scalloped edge oval from Layering Oval Dies.  Attach the Basic White embossed oval to the scalloped edge oval with Stampin' Seal.  Adhere the Snail and the word bubble to the oval with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Using the Springtime Joy stamp set, stamp the "May " sentiment inside the card with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

Embellish with Artistry in Blooms Sequins - I used the yellow and blue ones.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this cute little snail and his versatility!  Please leave a comment below.

This is an exciting week to Stampin' Up! Demonstrators!  We get a preview of the  new 2021 - 2022 Catalog on Wednesday, 3/24 - 2 more days!!!  It's always a bittersweet time as the new catalog brings many new, fabulous ideas, however,  many of our favorite products retire.  The retiring product list will be published next week which will provide you time to purchase your favorites before they leave in May.  I'll be showcasing some of my favorite retiring products over the next few weeks.

Let's have a bit of fun before Wednesday, 3/24 - let's have a little contest!  Select 10 products from the current catalog that you think will be retiring (excludes any of the million dollar seller sets (denoted with a gold polygon) and Designer Series Paper) and one of the 2021 January - June Mini Catalog items that you think will be carrying over (excludes the new Butterfly Brilliance Bundle).  Watch for tomorrow evenings newsletter for more details!

April's Paper Pumpkin - So Cool - is available to order from 3/11 - 4/10.  This kit is fun for all ages.  This is a wonderful way to make memories by sharing the fun with the special kiddos in your life!  This is a cool, fresh way to share your passion for crafting and engage them in creative pursuits they can enjoy for a lifetime.

The So Cool kit includes enough supplies to make 12 fresh, fun-shaped cards - 6 popsicles and 6 blank semicircles to color - with coordinating envelopes.  It features vivid watercolor images, 2 matching sticker sheets, and a versatile stamp set with sentiments the entire family can use all year long.

And April's Kit coordinates with the Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Paper from the 2021 January - June Mini Catalog.  I love this DSP!  Combine the kit and the paper for even more creative possibilities.  Coordinating colors for next month's kit:  Blackberry Bliss, Bermuda Bay, Bumblebee, Cinnamon Cider, Old Olive, and Teracotta Tile.

All Paper Pumpkin kits come with a ink spot, a smaller version of a normal sized Classic Stampin' Pad, glue dots and dimensionals.  The only thing that you need to provide is your Stampin' Seal, Paper Trimmer and Paper Snips!
