Enjoy the Moment Masculine Bithday Card

by Bonnie Hershfeldt, January 24, 2021

I needed some inspiration for a masculine birthday card for upcoming birthdays for male family and friends.  I've been making lots of birthday cards but not many are masculine.  Do you find it challenging to make masculine cards?  I found some excellent inspiration from the 2021 January - June Mini Catalog using the Enjoy the Moment stamp set from Stampin' Up!  I received this stamp set as a gift for attending On Stage in November.  I wasn't sure what I could do with this stamp set and I soon discovered this weekend what!  It's the perfect stamp set for masculine cards!

I made both of the cards showcased in the catalog and they turned out perfect for the birthday cards I needed.  I'll definitely be making more with this stamp set!

I used the Light Wood paper from the In Good Taste Designer Series paper for the card front.  I used Crumb Cake Stampin' Pad and my new Blending Brushes to add just a bit of color to the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossed background.  I used a bit more saturated color in my stamped images.  For the final embellishment, I pulled out my stash of In Good Taste Elements - I hadn't yet used them.  I was so excited when the card in the catalog had used them.  They are perfect for embellishments for masculine cards!  Who would have thought of replacing girly rhinestones with manly wood!

The second card was simple to make as the background is stamped on Crumb Cake cardstock with Crumb Cake Stampin' Ink using the seeds and the nuts stamps.  The Tasteful Labels Die set makes a brilliant backing using 3 different dies and darker neutrals against the white sentiment label.  The In Good Taste Designer Series paper again is used for the dark textured paper.  The Cinnamon Cider In Color Ribbon is the only embellishment used.  I had to dress it up a little bit though.  I mixed some Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint with alcohol into a Stampin' Spritzer and spritzed the card front before I added the labels and ribbon.  Might not be very masculine - but it's my touch of glitz.

Which one is your favorite?  I would love to hear your comments!  I would love to see your masculine card designs as I can use more inspiration!

I received my January Paper Pumpkin kit this week - Sending Hearts.  I started working on it yesterday.  I completed 4 out of 8 cards.  The Poppy Parade Ink Spot is the perfect red for these Valentine themed cards.

I also received my add on kit of 20 little treat boxes with those cute little snails!  The little boxes are quick to put together - they are perfect for a couple of small candy squares like Ghirardelli
chocolate squares.  I hope to spend sometime this week to finish up my remaining 4 cards and decorating all of the 20 boxes.

Valentine's day is 3 weeks away.  I spent time with my bestie this weekend having fun with our Valentine's day supplies.  We played with Forever & Always and Lots of Heart Bundles.  Check out Pinterest and my Facebook site this week for more Valentine's day Inspiration!

Thank you to Joey Hartman of Create with Joey for a fun Bingo night and her Lots of Heart card class.  She provided a swag bag with two Sweet Little Valentine Cards & More card kit.  I had fun making a couple of sweet little Valentine cards - lol!  Here is one of the cards I made - others will be on Facebook/Pinterest.

Wishing you a happy last week of January.  Maybe a little snow this week?  Take care!
Keep on Crafting!
