Dachshund Love!

by Bonnie Hershfeldt, December 20, 2020

Happy Holidays - 5 more days to Christmas!  How are you doing on coming to the finish line?  I hope that you are enjoying the season during this 2nd wave of the pandemic.  This year will be different for all of us and we will need to come up with ways to connect with our loved ones and make a new tradition!  I will be delivering Lasagna to my mom and mother-in-law as they won't be making to our place this year.   Only 3 of us this year at our home for Christmas day, instead of the yearly 9.  My youngest in NYC isn't coming home due to the pandemic.  This is the 1st time in 27 years that we won't be together as a family.  It will not be the same without him.  I am so, so sad.  I know that I'm not the only one experiencing the disappointment this year.

When I'm in a funk and this time it's been a big one - I turn to my craft room and get lost in creating.  I broke into a new stamp set available on January 5, 2021 from the new 2021 January - June Mini Catalog to look for inspiration.

Dachshund's are my favorite dogs!  We had two happy little male dachshund's for many years - Shultz and Snickers.  They were our boys constant companions and my best buddies.  When I started my Stampin' Up! business this year, I was going to use Pink Dachshund Crafting as my logo/business name.  I eventually settled on just my name but used the dachshund in my logo.  When I saw this in the new 2021 - 2022 Annual Catalog, it had to be one my 1st sets I purchased.  This stamp set comes with 3 adorable dachshunds along with all sorts of accessories for them:  hats, bows, sweaters, and even the "tail wagging" notations!  I needed some "sunshine" so making these two lovers was just what I needed.

2021 January - June Mini Catalog

I used Smoky Slate cardstock to make a landscape card.  I used Basic Black for the card front.  I used two sheets of Rococo Rose Oh So Ombre Designer Series Paper from the upcoming Sale-A-Bration catalog.  This paper pack has so many possibilities due to the Ombre patterns.  It comes in Bermuda Bay, Rococo Rose, Blackberry Bliss, and Granny Apple Green.  One side is patterned with odd shaped ellipses and the other side is plain Ombre.

I stamped all the elements with Black Tuxedo Memento Ink Pad and used Real Red, Flirty Flamingo, Basic Black and Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends Alcohol markers.

Playful Pets Trim Combo Pack

Be Mine Stitched Dies

I used the black and white twine from the Playful Pets trim combo pack.  I embellished the card with 3 silver hearts cut with the heats cluster die from the Be Mine Stitched Dies.  Both of these products are from the 2021 - 2022 Annual Catalog.  I used the "I love you that's the long and short of it" sentiment on Whisper White Cardstock from the Hot Dog Stamp set for the inside of the card.

I loved these little guys and can't wait to get back to making more fun cards with these adorable dachshunds.  What combo's of dogs and dog wear would you make?

Reminder there are 15 days left to order from the 2021 August - December Mini Catalog.
