In the Pines

by Bonnie Hershfeldt, November 01, 2020

Trick or Treating has passed and now onto Thanksgiving - the holidays are marching along!  What did you do on your Halloween night?  We must have had about 80 kids - I had 12 at one time on my porch - egads!   I panicked about running out of candy - thank goodness both Tom and I picked up extra bags of candy yesterday.

I spent a lot of time in the crafting room this weekend.  Friday night, I participated in a Bingo Stampin' Event hosted by Joey Hartman.  Today's card was one of 5 cards I made that Joey designed as part of the event.  I am in love with the In the Pines Bundle now!   I would never have thought of making a pink and orange Christmas Card - but I love this one.  I added a touch of Wink of Stella to the white Christmas tree.  It's so pretty!  I made a total of 8 today!

The bundle has so many beautiful trees to use for Christmas cards, tags and gifts.  The stamp set uses outlines and "water color" effect stamps.  I used the medium sized "water color" effect stamps with Melon Mambo Stampin' Ink Pad stamped off once for a little surprise inside.

Instructions to make this card are as follows:

  • Cut a piece of Mango Melody at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and score at 4 1/4"
  • Cut a piece of Pink/Orange paper from the Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper at 2 3/4" x 4" and another piece at 2" x 4".
  • Adhere to card front leaving a gap between the two plaid pieces.
  • Using the Pine Woods Dies and Whisper White cardstock, cut the larger textured tree and the matching solid trees.  Tip:  there are two larger textured trees; 1 has large "leaves" which makes a stencil cut.  Use the other one - I learned from experience - lol!!!  "Paint" the textured tree with Wink of Stella and set aside to dry.  Adhere the textured tree on top of the matching solid tree with a Fine Tip Glue Pen.  Or better yet attach an Adhesive sheet to the Whisper White Cardstock before cutting the textured tree.  This will make a quick "sticker" to attach to the solid tree front.  Adhere to card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Cut Gold Foil sheet using the second smallest solid Stitched Star.  Adhere with Stampin' Dimensionals to the upper left of the tree.
  • Cut Melon Mambo cardstock at 1/2" x 3 1/4".  I used the Banners Pick a Punch to flag each end.  Stamp with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and the "Season's Greeting" sentiment from the In the Pines Stamp Set.  Attach to card front with Stampin' Dimensionals on the right side of the sentiment label and Stampin' Seal on the left side of the sentiment label.  This will balance the dimensionals since the tree is popped up.
  • Embellish with 3 pink Artistry Blooms Sequins.
  • Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock at 5 1/4" x 4" for the inside sentiment.  I stamped this using the second largest "water color effect" tree with Melon Mambo (stamped off once).  I used "May Your Season Sparkle" from the Snowflake Wishes stamp set with Memento Black Tuxedo Ink on the inside of the card.  Adhere to the inside of the card.
I'll post some of the other cards we made on Pinterest later this week.  Shaded Spruce, Balmy Blue and Pretty Peacock make excellent trees!

Thursday night I threw my hat in to the Carbon Valley Craft Fair, so the heat is on to get a online store up and running by November 14.  It's going to be an online fair from November 14 - December 13.  I spent time this weekend working on getting some project ideas organized and made 32 Christmas cards to add to my inventory - whew.  My biggest challenge right now is getting an online store up and running - spending time learning about Shopify!  Oh Boy - more learning lol!!!!  I'll send you more information if you are interested in seeing what the Carbon Valley Craft Fair vendors have to offer.

Speaking of November 14, I will be holding a face to face class at my home.  We will be making 2 sets of 2 cards and 2 sets of boxes.  This will be a great start on your Christmas cards!  One of my crafting ladies came by Saturday as she will be moving away from Colorado and made her set.  They turned out so cute!!!  It was hard to decide which was the favorite!  Click on the photo below to register for the class by Tuesday, November 3, 5pm.  You have the option to purchase the Don't Stop Believin' stamp set and either porch pick up or shipped to your home if you are unable to join in on the fun.
