Back on Your Feet

Brrr - made it through the cold snap Monday/Tuesday this last week - down to 26°F Monday night.  Today is a glorious summer day - in the 80's today.  I was thinking of making Christmas cards.  Since the weather was so warm - I just couldn't get in the mood - so I'm back to working on fall again.  

Though this week's project isn't seasonal.  I am dedicating this week's project to my mom and my neighbor, who are mending from broken ankles/lower leg bones and wearing the lovely "boot".  Crossing our fingers that mom will be out of her boot by 9/25.  She is doing well with her PT so looking for good news!  I used the Stampin! Up® Back on Your Feet Stamp set.  The little turtle guy is so cute!  I've wanted to make a Get Well card with him for months now - so today is the day!  

I brought out striped paper from the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper pack.  The green's from this paper is perfect for green turtles.  I used Old Olive and Shaded Spruce cardstock to coordinate with the striped DSP.  I used Stampin! Blends to color in this little guy.  If you have never colored with Stampin! Blends, please give it a try!  These alcohol blending markers are so much fun.  And they coordinate with majority of the Stampin' Up products.  There are only a couple of colors not included as they are so close in color to an existing one.  I then cut him out with a scalloped circle from the Layering Circles Dies set.  I tried out the new Envelopes Dies to make scalloped lined envelopes with the same striped print.  I just love lined envelopes - they add such a special touch!  And this die didn't disappoint.  I have to include a little bling so I used the blue sequins from the Artistry Blooms Adhesive backed sequins.  

Instructions for this card are as follows:  

Old Olive cardstock 

• Cut card base 5 1/2" x 8 1/2".  Score in half at 4 1/4".  

Striped Designer Series Paper - Forever Greenery

• Cut 5 1/4 x 4".  Adhere with Multipurpose Liquid glue or Stampin' Seal.  Make sure that the stripes are vertial - up and down - aligned with the 5 1/4" length cut. 

Shaded Spruce cardstock

• Cut 2 1/4" x 1" strip.  Flag both ends.  

Whisper White cardstock

• Cut 4 " x 5 1/4" for inside card sentiment.  Stamp the "Hope you're back on your feet soon" sentiment from the Back on Your Feet stamp set with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad and.  Adhere this to the inside of the card with Multipurpose Liquid glue or Stampin! Seal.   
• Cut 3" square.  Stamp the turtle with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad.  Using Mossy Meadow Stampin' Blends (dark and light), color the rectangles on the lower shell using the dark Stampin' Blend on the shaded portion of the stamp image and then blend with the light Stampin' Blend.  Using Old Olive Stampin' Blends (dark and light), color the turtle's legs, head and the remaining sections between the rectangles on the lower shell using the dark Stampin' Blend on the shaded portion of the stamp image and then blend with the light Stampin' Blend.  Using the Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends (dark and light), color the turtle's belly shell using the dark Stampin' Blends on the shaded portion of the stamp image and then blend with the light Stampin' Blends.  Cut the turtle image using the #5 from the smallest to largest scalloped die from the Layering Circles Die set.  
• Cut 2" x 3/4" strip.  Stamp "Ouch" from the Back on Your Feet Stamp set.  Flag both ends and adhere centered to the Shaded Spruce flagged strip with Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin! Seal. 

Adhere the Shaded Spruce Flag onto the upper left corner of the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.  

Adhere the turtle to the lower right corner of the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.   

Finish by embellishing the card front with 5 large blue Artistry Blooms Adhesive-Backed Sequins.  I used one small blue sequin and placed on the sentiment flag.  

Instructions for the lined envelope: 

• Use a Whisper White Envelope.  
• Cut 6" x 3" striped Forever Greenery DSP.  Make sure that the stripes are running vertical - up and down - aligned with the 3" length.  
• Cut with the middle scalloped edged envelopes liner die from the Envelopes Die set.  
• Adhere to the inside of the envelope with Stampin' Seal with the scalloped edge just below the envelopes seal.  
• Fold the envelope flap down and crease the fold.  

Here is a closer look at each of the images from the Back on Your Feet Stamp set.  Isn't the Sloth and the Giraffe adorable?  Which is your favorite?  The sentiments are perfect for these sad little guys!  

Back on Your Feet

The Envelopes Dies are really easy to use to make lined envelopes with your favorite Designer Series Paper.  Christmas cards are extra special!  I remember when I was young going through my mom's Christmas cards that she would receive and ooh and ahh over those that had lined envelopes - they were just so fancy!  Now you can do the same with so little effort.  The past few years I've been trying to line all my Christmas card envelopes to make them just a little extra special.  And wow was it a lot of work making a template that I could use and then hand cutting each and every one.  This is so easy now with this die.  And it saved me a paper!

Envelopes Dies

October's Paper Pumpkin is open for ordering.  This is a unique way to spread Joy across the globe.  There will be 8 Christmas themed cards to make.  The sentiments in the kit will be in English, French, and German to share with people in other countries!  I plan on sending the German ones to my niece in Germany to share with her German speaking friends.  I don't have any French speaking friends, except Lynn Dosch, I can send one to her and I could send one to the Paris hotel I stayed in a year ago in January, as they were so kind to my son's and I during our visit.  If you would like to join in on the fun, please place your order by 10/10.  

October Paper Pumpkin Kit

World Cardmaking day is Saturday, October 3.   I'm going to set up an event at my house!  It will have to be a small group in order to practice social distancing, but I'm confident we can make this work to have some fun making cards!  If it works - then I will plan on doing more events go forward.  Look for more details in next week's blog post!
