I am so very excited to share my 1st blog post and my love of paper crafting with you. I created my website site just this week - it's definitely a work in progress. Like my website, I have many ideas percolating in my mind on how to share what I love with you whether it's a card, a 3d project or a scrapbook page layout. I would truly be honored to support you as your Independent Stampin' Up Demonstrator with your paper crafting needs.
As I post my first blog, I can't believe it's June. What June 14? Wasn't April 1st just yesterday! I am always amazed at how fast time flies especially in the summertime. This year, summer is a little different for all of us; local swimming pools closed, concerts in the park cancelled, and family barbeques with all of us wearing masks and trying to stay six feet apart. We will figure out how to best make it work for us and our loved ones and make new memories in new ways. What a wonderful time to capture the "new normal".
On June 3rd, Stampin' Up's new Annual Catalog for 2020 - 2021 was available to our customers to browse all the new, breathtaking Stampin' Up products. I hope that you have found your favorites and that your minds are percolating as well. I'm here to help if you have any questions about the new products. I've recently received two boxes of new goodies that I have been enjoying unpacking, opening and planning projects to make and share.
This weekend, I brought out my new In Good Taste Suite. I absolutely fell in love with the many varied textures the Designer Series Paper. The colors are soft, muted and there are many neutral colored backgrounds to explore. The sentiments in the stamp set are just what I have been looking for cards to share with those that need a little hug. I especially enjoyed the texture and feather stamps. The dies work so well in showcasing the sentiments. The textured embossing folder adds just that special something to your card front. And lastly, the pressed wood accents are the perfect embellishment for the neutral color palette.
My Stampin' Up leader, Joey Hartman, held a mystery card stamp and share this last week. The mystery uncovered a fun pocket card and I used this beautiful suite for my mystery card.
I loved the warm tones of the blues and browns. I always struggle with masculine cards. I think this will make a good addition to my supply for the men in my life!
Instructions to make this card are as follows: (I have modified Joey's instructions to reflect the supplies I used to make my version of the mystery card.)
- Cut Early Espresso cardstock 4 1/4" x 11". Score at 1 1/2" and 5 1/2". Fold on the 5 1/2" score line. Fold the 1 1/2" section towards the front of the card to make a flap.
- Cut In Good Times Blue Tiled DSP 4" x 3 3/4". Adhere with your favorite adhesive to the front of the card under the flap.
- Cut the reverse side of the DSP (brown wood plank print) 1 1/4" x 4". Adhere with your favorite adhesive to the flap. Adhere the flap to the card front with your favorite adhesive.
- Wrap 36" of Gold trim around the entire card two times aligning with the flap leaving about a 4" length of trim on the front side. With the third time around, tie a knot and then a bow to hold the card closed. (Optional: Adhere the bow to the flap of the card with a glue dot.)
- For the insert of the card, cut Crumb Cake cardstock 3 3/4" x 5 1/8". Stamp the textured flourish slanted a little to the left with Crumb Cake Ink in the top left corner of the cardstock.
- Cut Night of Navy cardstock 4" x 5 3/8". Layer the Crumb Cake cardstock onto the Night of Navy cardstock with your favorite adhesive.
- Slip this into the pocket card.
- Stamp the Just Saying Hello sentiment with Night of Navy ink. Cut with a Tasteful Labels die with the words a little to the left. With Smoky Slate ink, stamp the feather off once onto a scrap paper, then stamp on the right side of the label on top of the sentiment. Adhere to the front of the card with Stampin' dimensionals.
- With Bronze Stampin' Blends, color three small and one medium Pearl Basic Jewels. Scatter the three small bronzed pearls on the upper right corner of the Crumb Cake insert, and the one medium bronzed pearl onto the sentiment.

All of the items in the suite are sold individually as well. I am ordering more of the DSP as I am dreaming of scrapbooking pages with all the wood and tile designs to make a special book for my oldest son who is buying his first home. What a perfect background to record the story of the construction of his new home.
